Sunday, 23 March 2014, our pulp mill was affected by an incident. A deflagration occurred at 9:00 pm CET in the recovery boiler 2 of the pulp mill at Zellstoff Pöls. As a consequence our production had to be stopped. Customers have been informed accordingly.

Sebastian Heinzel to switch from the Supervisory Board to the operative business area and assume responsibility for strategic planning

The Heinzel Group is pleased to announce that the takeover of the former SCA publication paper mill in Laakirchen, Austria, agreed in December 2012, was completed on April 2, 2013. With a turnover of EUR 308 m in 2012, Laakirchen Papier AG, as the company will be known in future, is set to make a sizeable contribution to Heinzel Group growth.

Europe’s largest kraft paper machine is currently being built in Pöls, Austria. This represents an investment totaling over 115 mio Euros. On Monday the 11th March the huge „Yankee Cylinder“, the heart of the new paper machine, arrived by special transport in Pöls. The cylinder has a diameter of 6.7 meters and is the largest welded, high precision drying cylinder in the world.

The Heinzel Holding has purchased the entire stock of Papierfabrik SCA Graphic Laakirchen AG. The transaction will probably be completed in the first quarter of 2013, following the granting of approval by the anti-trust authorities.

Proceeds to be reinvested in Austria in projects for the future

Already for many years, the production of pulp has been almost independent of fossil fuels, as the whole energy needs of the production process can entirely be covered through own generation.

Alfred Heinzel, chairman and CEO of the Heinzel Group, has announced the construction of a new paper machine at the Pöls site. The total investment volume amounts to 115 million Euros.
