New STARKRAFT papers to enter the market in early 2024 after HEINZEL GROUP’S takeover of Steyrermühl mill from UPM

Vienna and Asunción, July 25th, 2022. Heinzel Holding GmbH and Paracel S.A. jointly announce that Heinzel has entered into an investment agreement to become the strategic equity investor in Paracel, an afforestation and pulp mill project in Paraguay, South America.

Upper Austrian site to be developed into a hub for sustainable packaging papers and renewable energy from 2024 Laakirchen, June 21st, 2022. HEINZEL GROUP announces today that it has entered into a share purchase agreement with UPM to acquire UPM Kymmene Austria GmbH and its subsidiaries in Steyrermühl, Upper Austria. Together with Heinzel's Laakirchen Papier AG, which is located less than three kilometers from the Steyrermühl paper mill, the site will become a hub for sustainable packaging papers and renewable energy with closing of the transaction on January 1st, 2024. The deal is contingent on approval from relevant competition authorities.

Vienna, April 7, 2022 – For the first time since the record-breaking year 2018, HEINZEL GROUP exceeded the two-billion-Euro mark in terms of its revenues in 2021. Rising sales volumes and the high market prices led to an increase in net sales of 26.5% to €2,038.2 million. In total, HEINZEL GROUP generated EBITDA of €195.8 million in 2021 despite the challenging market conditions – with a plus of 55.4% compared to the prior year, this represents the second-highest result in the company’s history and an excellent basis for implementing its new strategic objectives.

Sebastian Heinzel joins management team

Heinzel Group is a member of the “4evergreen” alliance, which strives to increase the share of fiber-based packaging in order to sustainably reduce the impact on climate and the environment.

Since the beginning of June 2020, Dr. Kurt Maier (CEO of Heinzel Group) has been the new President of Austropapier, the Association of the Austrian Paper Industry.

Built with an investment volume of 130 million euros in a construction time of 17 months, the new PM3 can produce 100,000 metric tons of kraft paper per year.

Vienna, 9 July 2018. With effect from 1 July 2018, Andreas Rauscher has been appointed Chief Technical Officer and CEO of Zellstoff Pöls AG. Ingrid Gruber – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 2016 – and Andreas Rauscher now form the new Management Board team together.

Heinzel Group increased its sales revenues by roughly 3% compared with the previous year to EUR 1,816.5 million in 2017. All companies of the two business areas, Trading and Industrial, recorded increases in both sales revenues and earnings, which were significant in some cases - with the exception of Laakirchen Papier.

Europapier Group is the most important paper merchant in CEE and a pioneer in the region’s markets.

The Heinzel Group has now initiated its next strategic initiative in the packaging paper segment.

The Heinzel Group can again reflect upon a successful financial year in 2016 during which it was able to increase markedly both its production and trading volumes, and thus raise its consolidated sales revenues by 19.1 per cent to EUR 1,763.3 million.
